In an interview with Women’s Health, Harris revealed that the divorce has been one of the hardest seasons of her life, but she is focusing on maintaining a sense of normalcy for their two children while navigating the storm. The two former USWNT players had met in 2010, got engaged in 2019, and were married the same year, but filed for divorce in 2023.
Harris also addressed the online hate she received after the split, emphasizing the impact of cruel words and cyberbullying on her and her children. Meanwhile, Bush and Harris bonded over their breakups and began their relationship in October 2023, one month after both were officially divorced.
Bush confirmed their relationship in April after coming out as queer in an essay for Glamour, expressing her happiness and comfort with her sexuality. The two have maintained that they were both out of their respective relationships before starting their romance. The ongoing divorce and new relationship have been challenging for Harris, but she is trying to remain focused on being present and owning herself in the midst of the storm.
