Local wrestlers from Warren High School and other schools in the area are gearing up for the upcoming OHSAA state wrestling tournament. The tournament will take place on March 8-10 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus. Warren’s girls team is bringing almost a full team of wrestlers to the regional tournament at Olentangy Orange High School.

Both Warren and Marietta are sending wrestlers to the boys district tournament at Gallia Academy, while other schools like Waterford, Caldwell, Shenandoah, Monroe Central, and Eastern have grapplers in the division III district meet in Heath. Warren’s girls team has competitors in nine out of the 14 weight classes in girls wrestling in Ohio.

Warren’s girls team has had a strong season, only losing in the state dual tournament. The team is led by senior captain Kylee Tait, who is undefeated with a record of 47-0. The boys team from Warren is also performing well, with senior captain Aden Strahler leading the way with a 47-2 record.

Waterford, Caldwell, Shenandoah, Monroe Central, and Eastern are also sending wrestlers to the district tournament, with high hopes for their competitors. Waterford finished second in the sectional meet, a significant achievement for the team. Judson Cooper from Waterford is looking to make his first trip to the state tournament as a senior.

Overall, the teams are feeling positive and connected as they prepare for the district tournament, with hopes of qualifying for the state tournament and making a strong showing. The coaches and athletes are excited about the upcoming competition and are working hard to represent their schools well.
