The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Cannabis Control is warning consumers about Delta-8 THC products that are being packaged to mimic popular snack foods and candies, potentially appealing to children. Delta-8 is a psychoactive substance found in hemp plants, different from Delta-9 THC which is regulated in Ohio. The products are unregulated by the government and can be easily obtained, posing a danger to Ohio’s youth. The Division is working to remove these products from circulation, citing safety concerns due to the lack of testing requirements. Examples of products with names like “Double Stuff Stoneo” and “Trips Ahoy” were shared in the consumer alert. The warning follows the Federal Trade Commission’s actions against companies using similar packaging targeting young people. Gov. Mike DeWine has also called for legislation to regulate Delta-8 products in Ohio. The Division is urging consumers to be cautious and informed about the products they purchase to ensure their safety.
