USA Baseball has announced the 65-man roster for the 2024 16U/17U National Team Development Program (NTDP), taking place in Cary, North Carolina, from July 25-28. The players were identified at the National Team Championships in Arizona and North Carolina. The program offers top athletes a chance to connect with coaches and staff, participate in skill development sessions, and play intrasquad games to improve both as players and individuals.
The roster includes 15U National Team alumni and past development program participants. Players will be split into three teams, along with the Canadian Junior National Team, competing in a round-robin format. Florida and California are the top states represented, with 35 players committed to collegiate baseball. The NTDP will be led by USA Baseball’s Jim Koerner and Justin Parker, with coaching staff including Troy Glaus and Dave Trembley.
Past National Team Championships and the National Team Identification Series (NTIS) Champions Cup were used to identify players for the roster, along with recommendations from scouts and coaches. The roster includes players like Carson Bolemon and Alex Harrington, who won gold at the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup in 2022, as well as returning participants like Rookie Shepard. The program aims to develop players for future national teams and provide a platform for young talent to showcase their skills in a competitive environment.
