Colin White, an Ohio State Buckeyes commit, was named Mr. Basketball for the state of Ohio, marking the 12th Bucks signee to win the award. White, with impressive averages of 24.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.6 steals per game, led his team to the Ohio State Final Four for the fourth consecutive season. The new Ohio State head coach, Jake Diebler, praised White’s achievement, calling him a “proven winner.”
On a different note, Ohio State Women’s Basketball sophomore forward Cotie McMahon was named to the Big Ten honor roll for the first time in her career. McMahon’s stellar performances helped the team secure wins against Ohio and No. 25 Penn State. She averaged 20.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and two steals per game while shooting 17-of-27 from the field.
In recruitment news, Ohio State officially signed two 2024 commits, Juni Mobley and Colin White. Mobley, a four-star guard, is the top prospect in Utah and the 43rd player nationally. White, a three-star prospect, ranks as the fifth player in Ohio and 117th player nationally.
Looking ahead, four-star center Jesse McCulloch is considering Ohio State among seven other schools. Standing at 6-9 and weighing 190 pounds, McCulloch aims to be the next skilled big man for the Buckeyes. If he chooses Ohio State, he will compete with other talented players in the frontcourt. Additionally, LeBron James’ son Bryce James has expressed interest in playing for Ohio State, hinting at a potential future on the court with his father.
