Ohio State University Introduces New NIL Inclusion Series

The Ohio State University athletic department has partnered with Advance NIL to launch a three-session NIL inclusion series aimed at providing NIL opportunities for student-athletes of diverse backgrounds and experiences. The goal of the program is to offer diversity-centered NIL education and help student-athletes leverage their diversity for NIL deals. The topics for each session were chosen in collaboration with Black and brown student-athlete organizations, the women’s student-athlete organization VIS, and the LGBTQIA+ organization Buckeye Spectrum.

Student-athlete Chase Davenport-Mills expressed excitement about expanding his knowledge on NIL and how it will enhance his college experience. NIL deals are seen as a way to benefit student-athletes beyond financial compensation, and this series highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in the NIL landscape.

Victoria Carlson, representing Buckeye Spectrum, praised the collaboration as a way to celebrate the intersection of different identities among Ohio State athletes. The first session was held in February, with the next two sessions scheduled for March and April.

The Ohio State University’s initiative to provide NIL education and opportunities for student-athletes reflects a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within its athletic community. The partnership with Advance NIL and collaboration with student-athlete organizations demonstrate a proactive approach to empowering student-athletes to navigate the evolving landscape of NIL opportunities.
