A tragic plane crash near the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Ohio claimed the lives of all three people aboard, the pilot and two passengers. The twin-engine Beechcraft 60 went down around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, suspected to have suffered a mechanical failure, as it was attempting to make an emergency landing near one of the runways in Fowler Township. The families of the victims have been notified, and their names will be released later.
The plane had flown in from Plattsburgh, New York, with the victims believed to be a man, a woman, and a child. It was reported that the left engine of the aircraft had failed, causing it to lose control during an attempted landing, leading to the crash near the north end of the runway. Firefighters from the Youngstown Air Reserve station worked alongside local emergency responders to contain the resulting fire.
The National Transportation Safety Board will be launching an investigation into the crash, with local law enforcement and emergency units providing assistance at the scene. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation as authorities work to determine the sequence of events that led to this tragic incident.
