The Penn State men’s basketball team fell short in a 79-67 road loss against Ohio State, despite a late surge that saw them reduce a 23-point deficit to just nine. Senior Puff Johnson and sophomore Kanye Clary led the team with 13 points each, while Nick Kern Jr. and Ace Baldwin Jr. chipped in 12 and 10 points respectively. The game started with Penn State going 0-for-11 from the field, allowing Ohio State to take an early 16-0 lead. The Nittany Lions made a comeback in the second half, but the Buckeyes held on for the win.
Penn State managed to hit 11 three-pointers during the game, marking the sixth time this season they’ve reached double digits in triples. Puff Johnson recorded his fourth double-digit scoring game of the season, while Nick Kern Jr. scored in double figures for the fourth straight game.
Looking ahead, Penn State has a bye week before hosting Minnesota on January 27 at the Bryce Jordan Center. The team will aim to bounce back from this loss and secure a win in their next game. The 2023-24 Penn State men’s basketball season is sponsored by Highmark Health.
