Winery founded by Ohio State graduate is now on the market

Slate Run Vineyard, a family-owned winery located in Canal Winchester, Ohio, is on the market for $725,000. Founded nearly 30 years ago by Ohio State University graduate Keith Pritchard, the winery features more than 60 types of grapes and produces 17 proprietary wines entirely with Ohio fruit. Pritchard’s passion for winemaking led him to open the vineyard in 1997, utilizing his skills and education to create a unique winery in the state.

The property includes four structures, including a tasting room, a store, an event center, and storage buildings. Pritchard is leaving all inventory and equipment and is willing to assist a new owner during the transition. Slate Run is one of several central Ohio businesses looking to pass their companies onto new hands, including Tommy Wayne’s Pizza and an Old Bag of Nails pub. Rockmill Brewery was also recently on the market for more than $6 million but was ultimately purchased at a foreclosure auction by a couple who held their wedding at the brewery.

The sale of Slate Run Vineyard presents a unique opportunity for a new owner to take over a well-established winery with a loyal customer base and a reputation for producing quality wines. Interested buyers can reach out to real estate agent Megan Bell with Re/Max Apex for more information about purchasing this iconic central Ohio winery.
