Five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez stole the show at the 2024 All-American Bowl in San Antonio by committing to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes during halftime. Standing at 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, Sanchez ranks as the No. 2 player in Texas and the No. 2 cornerback in the nation according to On3 Industry rankings. Both 247 Sports and Rivals also consider him the No. 1 overall corner in the nation. Sanchez received more than 30 scholarship offers before ultimately choosing Ohio State, citing his strong relationship with Buckeyes secondary and cornerbacks coach, Tim Walton.
Sanchez’s impressive performance on the football field included being named Houston Chronicle Newcomer of the Year in 2022, tallying four interceptions and 18 pass breakups. In addition to his football skills, Sanchez is also a standout on the track, boasting a 10.8-second 100-meter dash time and a 49.45-second 400-meter dash time. He has also excelled as part of multiple relay teams for his high school program.
With his commitment to Ohio State, Sanchez is looking to take his game to the next level under the guidance of coach Walton, who has a wealth of experience coaching top-tier defensive backs. Buckeyes fans can look forward to seeing Sanchez’s talents on display as he joins the team in the upcoming seasons.
