Almost 11 months into the war, Palestinians in Gaza continue to face challenges accessing food and clean water

Palestinians in Gaza are still facing significant challenges in accessing food and clean water nearly 11 months into the war against Hamas. The ongoing conflict has restricted the entry of much-needed aid into the region, forcing families to rely on makeshift charity kitchens for survival. These kitchens provide mainly rice for a daily meal, with chicken provided only once a week. Families must line up for hours in the scorching heat to receive their food and water. Accessing water has also become a daily struggle as wells have been destroyed in Israeli airstrikes, leaving many to line up for hours to fill up their bottles with water from barrels. Displaced individuals like Um Yehia Shaheen and Mohamed Hanounah describe the challenges they face, with one lamenting, “There is no life here. We are not really living.” As the situation in Gaza remains dire, aid organizations and governments are being called upon to increase efforts to provide the necessary support to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in the region.
