Steven Tyler’s Vocal Injury Forces Aerosmith to Retire from Touring

Rock band Aerosmith has announced that they will be retiring from touring following lead singer Steven Tyler’s vocal injury. In a statement shared on Instagram, the band explained that Tyler’s vocal injury has not fully recovered despite months of efforts and the best medical care. The decision to retire from touring was described as heartbreaking but necessary. Fans have shown their support for the band, thanking them for 50 years of legendary rock ‘n’ roll music.

The announcement comes months after Tyler fractured his larynx in September 2023, leading to the postponement of the band’s farewell tour. The severity of the injury was confirmed by the doctor, who stated that in addition to damage to the vocal cords, Tyler also suffered a fractured larynx. Despite ongoing treatment, he was advised that patience is essential for recovery. Tyler has previously spoken about his injury, mentioning that his throat is on the mend.

In a momentous return to the stage in May, Tyler surprised fans by performing at a Black Crowes concert in London, where he sang the Aerosmith classic “Mama Kin” with lead singer Chris Robinson. The band expressed their gratitude to their fans, team, and crew for their support throughout the years. They urged their fans to continue playing their music loud and thanked them for making their dreams come true.
