In the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Kyiv has intensified its attacks on Russian military targets, including oil depots, a submarine, and an airfield. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commended Ukrainian forces for striking these locations, stating that every accurate strike brings the end of the war closer. The Ukrainian military reported sinking a Russian submarine in Sevastopol, damaging launchers of an anti-aircraft defense system, and hitting oil depots in Russian-controlled regions. Zelenskyy has called on Western allies for permission to use their weapons for long-range attacks on Russia. The Ukrainian president also highlighted the use of drones to target fuel storage depots in Rostov and Belgorod regions, causing fires but resulting in no injuries. Kyiv’s use of long-range drones to attack Russian oil facilities has increased this year in an attempt to weaken Russian forces and the country’s economy. The escalating conflict has seen Ukraine take a more active role in retaliating against Russian aggression over the course of the 29-month-old invasion. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to engage in military actions.
