Two men charged by US authorities for inciting racist attacks on Telegram | Crime News

The US Justice Department has charged two individuals, Dallas Erin Humber and Matthew Robert Allison, with leading a ‘transnational terrorist group’ on Telegram that solicited hate crimes. The defendants allegedly motivated by white supremacist ideology, encouraged acts of violence against minorities, government officials, and critical infrastructure in the United States. They face 15 federal charges, including soliciting hate crimes, soliciting murder of federal officials, distributing bomb-making instructions, and conspiring to provide material support to terrorists. The indictment accuses them of leading a group known as Terrorgram Collective that espouses white supremacist views. The men used Telegram to transmit bomb-making instructions, distribute a list of potential assassination targets, and celebrate violent acts. Justice Department officials expressed grave concerns over the danger posed by the group. The announcement comes amid fears of political violence ahead of the US presidential election. Telegram’s founder Pavel Durov was recently detained in France on charges related to the platform’s use for criminal activity. The Justice Department is committed to holding perpetrators of bias-motivated violence accountable, even those who hide behind computer screens. Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke emphasized the department’s determination to address such crimes. The suspects’ lawyers have not commented, and it remains to be seen how the case will unfold as it moves through the legal system.
