Ukrainian President Zelenskyy arrived in the US to present Kyiv’s plan to end the war with Russia, referred to as a “victory plan”, to President Biden and other officials. The visit comes after intense fighting in eastern Ukraine, with Kyiv urging the west to allow the use of long-range weapons to strike targets in Russia, without success. Zelenskyy emphasized the need for a shared victory for peace in a video address, stating that the fall will determine the future of the war.
During his trip, Zelenskyy visited a Pennsylvania ammunition factory producing munitions for Ukraine and called for increased support. The UK foreign secretary indicated ongoing negotiations with the White House to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles inside Russia. Meanwhile, fake news websites registered in the UK are spreading disinformation about western companies in Ukraine, prompting calls for greater transparency.
In Russia’s latest strikes, the city of Kharkiv was attacked, leaving 21 wounded in a second consecutive night-time attack. Additionally, a firefighter was killed by a Ukrainian drone in the Russia-controlled Luhansk region, with two others injured. The ongoing violence highlights the need for continued support and action to end the conflict and achieve lasting peace in the region.
