Zelenskyy calls for Russia to be coerced into following the peace principles outlined in the UN charter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the UN Security Council, calling for an end to the war in Ukraine based on United Nations rules. He described Russia’s actions as “insane” and expressed concerns about potential attacks on nuclear plants in Ukraine. Zelenskyy urged the UN to use its authority to force Russia to adhere to the UN charter and emphasized the need for action rather than negotiations. He is set to present his full “victory plan” to US President Biden on September 26, with plans to also discuss it with presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. The plan outlines terms for future peace negotiations with Russia and is not expected to include concessions. Zelenskyy’s visit to the US included an address to the UN General Assembly and a stop at an arms ammunition factory in Pennsylvania. He will meet with Biden and the presidential candidates in Washington later this week. Trump’s stance on supporting Ukraine differs from the Biden administration, with Trump previously declining to declare whether he wants Ukraine to prevail in the war. As tensions continue in Ukraine, Zelenskyy remains resolute in his efforts to end the conflict and bring peace to the region.
