France and US suggest a 21-day ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah

France and the United States are on the brink of proposing a 21-day ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah in the hopes of preventing further escalation in the region. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that significant progress has been made on the proposal and urged both parties to accept it quickly to protect civilians and kickstart diplomatic negotiations. The United States, led by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, is intensively engaged in efforts to deescalate tensions and secure a ceasefire agreement that could bring stability to the Middle East. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly expressed openness to the potential deal, but with the condition that it includes the return of Israeli civilians to their homes. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has given his support to the French-US plan and called on the UN Security Council to ensure Israel’s withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese territories. The ceasefire deal is seen as a crucial step towards preventing a full-fledged war between Israel and Hezbollah and fostering long-term peace in the region.
