Former Ohio State University star quarterback Troy Smith recently hosted the Buckeye Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament at the Golf Club of Dublin. The event, which was sponsored by Fox 28, featured numerous former OSU athletes and other celebrities hitting the links to raise money for a good cause.
Smith, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2006 and led the Buckeyes to a national championship appearance, was excited to give back to his community through this event. “It’s always great to come back to Columbus and see all the support from Buckeye Nation,” Smith said. “We have a lot of fun out here on the golf course, but more importantly, we’re raising money for some great charities.”
The tournament raised funds for several organizations, including the Women’s Resource Center of Ohio, which provides support and resources for women in need. In addition to the golf tournament, there was also a silent auction featuring memorabilia from various sports teams and athletes.
Several former OSU football players participated in the event, including Ted Ginn Jr., Maurice Clarett, and AJ Hawk. Other celebrities in attendance included Olympic gold medalist Katie Smith and former NBA player Mike Conley Sr.
Overall, the Buckeye Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament was a huge success, raising thousands of dollars for charity and bringing together former OSU athletes and fans for a day of fun and giving back. Smith hopes to make this an annual event and continue to support worthy causes in the Columbus community.
