Top senior volleyball players from the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference showcased their talent at the ECO Center in St. Clairsville on Sunday for the OVAC All-Star Game. The Ohio squad emerged victorious in four sets against West Virginia, with a final score of 25-15, 25-21, 21-25, 15-4. Warren’s Madyson Long led the Buckeyes with five kills in the first set.
The second set was a close battle, but Ohio pulled away with a quick run to take a 2-0 lead. West Virginia fought back in the third set, led by Oak Glen’s Mckenzi Martin who had a match-high nine kills. The teams agreed that the fourth set would be played to 15 points, with Ohio ultimately securing the victory.
During the game, the OVAC announced its players of the year in different classes, recognizing outstanding athletes from various schools. Conotton Valley’s Ava Williams, Caldwell’s Chesne Long, Wellsville’s Presley Stokes, Linsly’s Laura Carbonell, Martins Ferry’s Gianna Chirpas, Oak Glen’s Mckenzi Martin, and Morgantown’s Sydney Buck were honored for their achievements.
The match provided a platform for these standout players to showcase their skills one last time before moving on to the next chapter of their volleyball careers. With a mix of competition and camaraderie, the event highlighted the talent and sportsmanship present in the Ohio Valley high school volleyball community.
