Warren Senior Madyson Long Signs Letter of Intent with Ohio University Volleyball
VINCENT — Madyson Long, a senior at Warren High School, officially committed to continue her volleyball career at Ohio University during a signing ceremony held at Warrior Coliseum. Surrounded by her parents Krista and Josh, Long will join the Bobcats under head coach Geoff Carlston, marking an exciting step in her athletic journey.
Long played a pivotal role in leading her high school team to a historic season, which included a record of 23-3, their first regional championship, and a berth in the Final Four for the first time in school history. Reflecting on her commitment to Ohio University, Long expressed her admiration for the campus and the welcoming community, which played a significant role in her decision. "The staff, players, [and] faculty really sold it to me that this is the place I need to go," she said.
Notably, Long’s impressive high school stats include 419 kills, 27 blocks, 68 aces, and multiple all-conference honors. As the 2024 District Offensive Player of the Year, she plans to major in accounting and finance, with aspirations of balancing academics and athletics at the Division I level.
Long, who has been with the Warrior program for two years after transferring from Fort Frye, credits her success to the support of her family, coaches, and teammates. Her coach, Ann Skufca, praised her contributions to the program, stating that Long will leave a lasting legacy.
As she prepares for her future, Long is excited about the possibility of playing a new position and earning a starting spot with the Bobcats. She acknowledges the challenges ahead but remains committed to her goals. "I think that feeling that we did it will live with us forever," Long remarked, reflecting on her team’s achievements this season.
