Local media celebrities, including Danita Harris, Sam Sylk, and the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show team, recently joined 3News reporter Mike Polk Jr. in the first-ever Boys & Girls Clubs Celebrity Knockout Challenge. The event was part of an ongoing effort to raise funds and build awareness for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio, which have been struggling due to a lack of federal funding.
The celebrity guests participated in a friendly game of basketball with the club kids at the Broadway club, showcasing the fun programming and camaraderie found at the clubs. While the guests were outshot by the kids in the basketball drill known as “knockout,” everyone had a great time.
The event will be featured on Front Row Friday on 3News at 7 p.m., where Polk will announce the winner of the challenge and share some of the friendly trash-talking that took place during the game. Polk plans to continue the challenge in November and December with more local celebrities, using it as an opportunity to raise funds for the clubs.
Donations to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio can be made online, and viewers are encouraged to tune in to watch the kickoff of the challenge. The event served as a reminder of the important work being done at the Boys & Girls Clubs to support children and families in the community.
