In the latest College Football Playoff rankings, the Oregon Ducks secured the top spot, followed by Ohio State, Georgia, and Miami. The committee also highlighted the impressive performances of Texas, Penn State, Tennessee, Indiana, BYU, and Notre Dame in the Top 10 rankings. Alabama and Boise State hold the No. 11 and 12 spots, respectively.
With the upcoming expansion to a 12-team playoff format, the selection committee anticipates an exciting month of football leading up to the final rankings reveal on Dec. 8. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel, a committee member, cited key wins and strong performances as factors in determining the current rankings.
The top-ranked Ducks will face Maryland, while Georgia battles Ole Miss and LSU takes on Alabama in notable matchups this weekend. The College Football Playoff rankings are set to be updated throughout November, leading to the first playoff game on Dec. 20 and the national title game on Jan. 20 in Atlanta.
Manuel emphasized the importance of each ranking, from the Top 4 to the Top 25, and ensured that the committee thoroughly discussed and evaluated each team in the ranking process.
