Valerie Williams, a dedicated and innovative professional in the student transportation industry, has been recognized as one of the top Rising Stars in the field. With a background in corporate America, Williams transitioned into pupil transportation in 2011 and has since made significant contributions to the industry.
Starting as a crossing guard and eventually becoming a senior router at Leander ISD transportation, Williams has demonstrated a passion for creating efficient operating systems and being proactive in meeting transportation needs. She was instrumental in launching a new registration program, Register to Ride, for eligible bus riders in the district, which has improved security, safety, and efficiency.
Through collaboration with K12 Insight and the implementation of the Let’s Talk platform, Williams and her team have been able to streamline processes, enhance customer service, and automate incoming inquiries. This has transformed the transportation department and improved communication both internally and externally.
Despite facing challenges such as processing registrations after the deadline and a shortage of drivers, Williams remains committed to achieving department goals, including ensuring 100 percent registration of riders and continuing to find creative solutions to improve operations.
Outside of her work in transportation, Williams and her husband enjoy volunteering with their ministry and engaging in various hobbies. Her dedication to excellence and continuous improvement has truly set her apart as a Rising Star in the industry.
