Addie Stephens Named LKC Player of the Year; Conference Honors Announced

PARKERSBURG — Wirt County’s Addie Stephens has been named the Little Kanawha Conference (LKC) Volleyball Player of the Year, with league coaches recognizing her standout performance throughout the season. The junior, who will lead her team as the No. 3 seed into the upcoming Class A state tournament at West Virginia State, has achieved significant milestones, including recording 546 kills, 78 aces, and 95 assists this season.

Tiger head coach Katie Frazier praised Stephens for her team-oriented approach, stressing that her success is a result of her teammates’ contributions. This recognition marks Stephens’ third consecutive selection to the All-LKC first team.

Ravenswood senior Macy Casto also received accolades, securing her fourth spot on the first team after guiding her team to their first LKC championship. Casto concluded her illustrious career as the school’s all-time leader in key statistical categories, including kills and aces, boasting an impressive 585 kills and a .320 hitting percentage this season.

Representing Tyler Consolidated on the first team were Katie Grimm and Kayli West, showcasing their respective strong performances. Williamstown, a three-time defending state champion moving up to Class AA, featured seniors Kyndra Johnson and Becca Shamblin in the first team lineup, with Shamblin being a repeat selection.

Other commendable players included St. Marys’ Callie Powell and Gilmer County’s twin sisters, Ava and Blair Dobbins. Powell made significant contributions to her team’s first-ever state tournament qualification, achieving double-digit kills and digs in crucial matches.

The festivities around the LKC volleyball season continue as teams prepare for the state tournament, highlighting the dedication and talent of these young athletes.
