The Ohio 741/Greentree Road intersection roundabout has been prioritized for construction due to the increasing popularity of the nearby sports park and residential developments in the area. County Engineer Neil Tunison projects a rise in traffic volume from 11,070 to 13,940 vehicles per day by 2041. The roundabout construction, estimated at $4.1 million, is set to begin next year and is expected to reduce delays and decrease the severe crash rate.
Funding for the project will come from a port authority bond issue, to be repaid with revenue generated from the Miami Valley Gaming TIF district, which is projected to bring in around $4 million in the future. The TIF ensures that schools receive their full share of revenue and covers any shortfalls in debt service from the county infrastructure bank.
The sports park, which hosted 51 events last year and is expected to do the same this year and in 2025, has been a major draw for the county, bringing in over 1.4 million guests and generating an economic impact of $102 million this year. Construction on the roundabout is anticipated to improve traffic flow and safety around the sports park, benefiting both residents and visitors.
The construction process will involve close coordination between county partners to minimize delays and issues. Once completed, the roundabout is expected to greatly enhance traffic flow and safety in the area surrounding the sports park, providing a boost to the local economy and community.
