Capitola’s Quinn Healy, a sophomore two-meter defender for Stanford University, helped the Team USA Women’s Senior National Team win gold at the 2024 Pan American Championships in Colombia. She scored nine goals in the tournament, including two in the championship game where the Americans beat Argentina 18-5. Emily Ausmus was named the tournament MVP with 16 goals, while Amanda Longan was named Top Goalkeeper.
Team USA dominated all six of its opponents, with their closest victory being against Argentina in their opener with a score of 20-9. They also defeated Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, and Venezuela by large margins. This win secured the team a spot at the 2025 World Aquatics World Championship in Singapore.
Healy, who played in all 26 games as a freshman for Stanford, will next compete in Polo-Palooza in Fresno. Last season, she scored 23 goals and earned All-Academic honors. Stanford had a successful season, reaching the NCAA Tournament Division I semifinals. Healy will look to continue her success in both academics and athletics as she represents Stanford and Team USA in water polo.
