Ohio and Michigan Governors Place a Sweet Bet Ahead of “The Game”

COLUMBUS — As the iconic college football rivalry draws near, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer have engaged in a friendly wager surrounding the much-anticipated clash between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines. The matchup, known as “The Game,” will take place on Saturday, Nov. 30, at Ohio Stadium in Columbus at noon.

Governor DeWine has put forth a basket of Ohio-made candies which features a selection of regional treats, including assorted chocolates from Dayton’s renowned Esther Price Candies, Marsha’s Homemade Buckeyes from Perrysburg, and chocolate-covered pretzels from Cleveland’s Malley’s Chocolates. "With a spot to play in the Big 10 championship on the line, Fran and I are confident the Buckeyes will emerge victorious in the greatest rivalry in college football," DeWine expressed, emphasizing his pride in showcasing Ohio’s confectionery offerings through this friendly competition.

In response, Governor Whitmer has proposed a pack of Michi-gummies from Shurms Candy, a popular Michigan-based company with locations throughout the state. “I can’t wait to watch the Michigan Wolverines beat The Ohio State Buckeyes for the fourth year in a row alongside thousands of college football fans across the nation," Whitmer asserted, displaying her confidence in her team. "I’m happy to wager Governor DeWine some amazing Michigan-shaped gummies. Go Blue!"
