Cleveland Browns Face Injury Challenges Ahead of Monday Night Showdown Against Broncos
CLEVELAND, Ohio — As the Cleveland Browns gear up for a crucial Monday night game against the Denver Broncos, they are contending with injuries among key players. Three starters were noticeably absent from Thursday’s practice: receiver Cedric Tillman, safety Juan Thornhill, and left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr., placing the team’s depth under scrutiny.
Tillman, who ranks fourth on the team with 29 receptions and leads with three touchdown catches, sustained a concussion during last week’s 24-19 win against the Steelers. His availability remains uncertain as he recovers. Thornhill, recently off injured reserve due to a calf injury, experienced a flare-up that landed him on the participation report. If Thornhill is unable to go, Ronnie Hickman is poised to step in.
Wills, who has battled ongoing knee issues, has also been ruled out. After suffering a hyperextension during the Bengals game on October 20, he missed the subsequent week’s matchup against the Ravens. Germain Ifedi filled in for Wills last week and is expected to do so again against a Broncos defense that leads the league with 44 sacks.
On the other side, the Broncos face their own injury hurdles with rookie quarterback Bo Nix limited in practice due to a back issue. Despite this, he has been a standout lately, earning the NFL Rookie of the Week Award three times consecutively and boasting an impressive 8-0 touchdown-to-interception ratio since Week 10.
Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski noted Nix’s growth, commending his decision-making and ability to extend plays. As both teams prepare for this vital matchup, injuries will play a pivotal role in determining their prospects.
