Holiday Spirit Shines at Ohio Valley Mall’s Black Friday Event
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Ohio Valley Mall buzzed with excitement this Black Friday as residents lined up early to grab special “swag bags” given to the first 200 shoppers. The event kicked off at 6 a.m., with marketing director Candi Noble-Greathouse highlighting the allure of the swag bags, which included gift sets from various tenants and surprise vouchers. Notably, one lucky shopper could win a $500 mall gift card.
Shoppers arrived as early as 9:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving, eager for the deals and prizes. Hailey Ullom and Elizabeth Barath looked forward to the surprises inside their bags, while Jamie Deaton braved the cold for Squishmallows at Five Below. Angela Goettel showcased her Black Friday spirit, having participated in the shopping tradition for over 20 years.
The mall added festive flair with DJ Daner spinning classic Christmas tunes from 6 a.m. to noon, later joined by the Brasset Hounds, a six-piece brass band that entertained shoppers starting at 12:45 p.m. Throughout the weekend, mall employees distributed exclusive Black Friday shirts to those exhibiting holiday spirit through festive attire.
A highlight of this year’s event was the soft opening of a new local favorite, The Holey Rollers Donut Truck, which won six months of free rent in the Small Shop Showdown. Family-owned and operated by Jeremy Pasztor and his daughters, the shop set up at the former Subway location, marking a festive beginning for their business.
As the community embraced the holiday spirit, shoppers reveled not only in deals but in the camaraderie and cheer that fills the mall during the season.
