Russell Township Police Report: Recent Incidents Raise Community Concerns
RUSSELL TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A series of incidents reported to the Russell Township Police Department over the past week highlights ongoing community challenges.
On November 15, a local resident reported that two checks from the IRS had gone missing, prompting police involvement. Although the checks were canceled and reissued, only one was received. Authorities indicated that no criminal activity was involved, categorizing the situation as a civil matter.
A neighborhood dispute arose on November 16 when one Chillicothe Road resident accused their neighbor of blowing leaves into their yard. Police intervened, mediating between the two parties and advising them to maintain their leaves on their respective properties to avoid escalating the disagreement.
Also on November 16, Russell police provided mutual aid in locating a drunken driver from Newbury Township. The individual had left home in his truck and was later found in Chester Township, where he engaged in a domestic dispute. Chester Township police subsequently arrested the man while safely transporting his female companion back home.
On November 17, police responded to reports of erratic driving on Chillicothe Road. Officers observed a northbound vehicle that had passed several cars in a no-passing zone. The driver confessed to her reckless behavior, citing tardiness as the reason. Upon conducting an ID check, officers discovered an outstanding warrant against her from Streetsboro police, which was a Portage County issue. She was given a verbal warning concerning both her driving and the warrant.
