The mela police in Prayagraj are gearing up for the world’s largest religious gathering, the Maha Kumbh, with advanced security measures to combat illegal drone usage. Specialized counter-drone technology and software have been acquired to neutralize unauthorized drones without causing harm. No-drone zones will be established within the mela campus, and strict security protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of participants. Only licensed operators will be permitted to use drones according to set guidelines. The restrictions will be enforced across all 25 sectors of the mela area, with enhanced surveillance using 20 advanced drones. Unauthorized drone operations by private parties, filmmakers, or documentary makers will not be tolerated without valid permission. Drones are commonly used for surveillance during festive seasons or events, but the police are implementing tighter regulations to ensure safety at the Maha Kumbh. The police will conduct anti-drone checks and patrolling during the main snan days, with a multi-layered security cordon in place. The use of drones for surveillance and communication purposes has grown, but operators will now require permission to fly drones in the mela campus. These security measures aim to maintain order and prevent any unauthorized drone activities during the religious event.
