Holiday Cheer Spreads Across the Ohio Valley in Festive Celebrations
This past Saturday night marked the jubilant start of the holiday season across the Ohio Valley, as communities came together for lively events.
In Weirton, the 2024 Christmas Parade, organized by the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce, brought the streets to life with the theme “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Main Street was alive with local residents who turned out in droves to witness a colorful array of floats, marching bands, and dance groups. The festive evening concluded on a high note with a dazzling fireworks display, leaving everyone in high spirits.
Toronto also joined in the festivities with its inaugural “Light Up Night,” hosted at the corner of North Fourth and Clarks Street. This exciting event included a vibrant vendor market, engaging activities for children, live entertainment, a towering Christmas tree, and, notably, a special visit from Santa Claus himself. Proceeds from the event will benefit several local initiatives, including Inspire Toronto, the Help Hand Food Pantry, Kiwanis Coats for Kids, Toys for Toronto, Students in Need, and the Christmas with a Cop program.
Meanwhile, in Steubenville, the "Christmas at the Fort" celebrations continued with a free concert at the Cedar One Christmas Pavilion. The crowd enjoyed live performances by Jeff Jimerson and Airborne, along with George Kokus and the K Band, providing a perfect musical backdrop for the festive atmosphere.
These events highlight the spirit of community and the joy of the holiday season, as residents of the Ohio Valley come together to celebrate and support one another. With the launch of these festive activities, the holiday spirit is set to flourish in the region.
