The president of the police union representing officers in Franklin County mentioned that an officer was injured during the incident.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day expressed his disappointment at the postgame brawl, mentioning that the players were not going to allow the flag planting to happen on their field. Michigan running back Kalel Mullings condemned the fighting, stating that it was bad for the sport and classless.
The skirmish went on for several minutes before eventually calming down. Fox Sports commentator Gus Johnson criticized the Wolverines for what he called an unnecessary and disrespectful gesture. The ugly scene marred Michigan’s upset victory over Ohio State, with tensions running high between the players even after the game had ended.
