An event this weekend in Blue Rock, Ohio will highlight the famous local artist, Howard Chandler Christy. The Ohio History Connection and Ohio Open Doors have partnered with historical landmarks and building owners to open their doors for special tours and history programs. The open house at “The Barracks” will feature a display of Christy memorabilia, prints, and originals, as well as a visiting artist who will speak about his recent award-winning painting. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the studio where Christy created his iconic works. The event coordinators, Melody and Jaye Hayes, want the community to experience the historic significance of the home where Christy lived and worked. The Barracks was once filled with celebrities from the east coast, and models brought by Christy from all over the world. The open house will take place on Saturday from 10AM to 6PM at 6020 South River Road in Blue Rock. This event is a chance for the community to learn about and appreciate the legacy of Howard Chandler Christy, a world-renowned artist and illustrator.
