Hampton Slukynsky selected for U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster.

Freshman goaltender Hampton Slukynsky from Kalamazoo has been named to the U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster. He is one of three goalies on the team and will be attending a training camp at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan from Dec. 16-17. The players are auditioning for a spot on the final 25-player roster that will compete in the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa, Ontario from Dec. 26, 2024 to Jan. 5, 2025. The final roster will be announced by Dec. 24. Team USA has a strong history in the tournament, medaling in seven of the last nine championships, including a gold in 2024.

John Vanbiesbrouck, the general manager of the 2025 U.S. National Junior Team, praised the quality of players at the camp and acknowledged the efforts of those who have contributed to the development of young players in the country. Slukynsky has been performing well for the Broncos this season, with a 3-2-1 record, a 1.66 goals against average, and a .947 save percentage, leading the NCAA in this statistic. He consistently makes 25 or more saves in each of his starts and has only allowed more than two goals in a single game so far. Slukynsky hails from Warroad, Minnesota, and has been a standout performer for his team.
