Cleveland Heights Star Running Back Marquise Davis Commits to Missouri
CLEVELAND, Ohio — In a significant shift ahead of the early national signing day on Tuesday, star running back Marquise Davis has flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Missouri, as confirmed by a recent post on the social media platform X. The Cleveland Heights standout, who earned recognition as cleveland.com’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2023, initially pledged to Kentucky in May.
During an impressive junior year, Davis rushed for 2,228 yards and scored 35 touchdowns, attracting scholarship offers from prominent schools including Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Miami, and USC. Despite battling a foot injury during the current season, which sidelined him for nearly four games, Davis still managed to rack up 1,671 yards and 23 touchdowns in just six full games.
Cleveland Heights concluded the year with a 6-5 record, but their playoff run was cut short in the first round against Strongsville. Coach Mac Stephens decided to protect Davis in a recent game after he was injured on a tackle, emphasizing the importance of considering Davis’s future in sports.
Davis, now a four-star recruit, becomes the 16th member of Missouri’s recruiting class and the only running back committed for the Class of 2025, according to 247Sports. His move to Missouri represents a pivotal moment in his athletic career, promising to bring his dynamic playing ability to an SEC program.
