Annual Berea Jazzercise Turkey Burn Off Brings Community Together for Charity
BEREA, Ohio – On Black Friday, the annual Berea Jazzercise Turkey Burn Off turned the Berea Recreation Center into a vibrant hub of activity, with over 80 participants of all ages coming together for fitness and philanthropy. Rather than heading to the stores for holiday sales, attendees chose to engage in a high-energy workout, contributing both food donations and $800 to the Berea Community Outreach Food Pantry.
The event, characterized by upbeat music and a mix of cardio and strength training, was spearheaded by local Jazzercise instructors, including Tina Schiely, Lisa Ortiz, Carlyn Eschuk, Tina Brouse, and Taylor Brouse. Cindi Serrani, the event’s founder and a former Jazzercise instructor, highlighted the significance of community support, noting, “There is a need here for food pantry assistance, and we have a great, tight-knit Jazzercise community to pull from.”
Participants enjoyed a morning of fun and fitness, embodying the spirit of giving. “It’s such a cool thing to be a part of,” said Eschuk, who emphasized the dual purpose of the event: showcasing the Jazzercise program while giving back to the community.
Natalie Guzzo, Social and Senior Services Administrator for Berea Community Outreach, accepted the donations, recognizing the collective effort to assist those in need during the holidays. The event received an enthusiastic response, attracting individuals beyond regular Jazzercise attendees, demonstrating the community’s commitment to supporting its less fortunate members.
For those interested in joining the movement, more information is available at jazzercise.com, where the Berea location can be found. The Turkey Burn Off, now in its 33rd year, continues to make a positive impact on both health and the community.
