St. Clair Falls Just Short of Ohio’s Mr. Football Title – Peak of Ohio

Bellefontaine senior quarterback, Tavien St. Clair, had a big week as he signed with Ohio State and came in second for Ohio’s Mr. Football award. The award was ultimately won by Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller junior quarterback Matt Ponatoski. Ponatoski led his team to the Division I state championship game and has set multiple career records for passing yards and touchdowns.

St. Clair had an impressive season, throwing for over 2,500 yards and rushing for over 200 yards with a total of 29 passing touchdowns and 9 rushing touchdowns. Despite his strong performance, he came in second in the Mr. Football voting.

Other finalists for the award included Ontario senior quarterback Bodpegn Miller, Mentor senior quarterback Scotty Fox, and Avon senior quarterback Nolan Good, among others.

The Ohio Mr. Football Award was previously given by the Associated Press but has been awarded by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association since 2017. The All-Ohio teams will be announced starting Monday.

Overall, it was a successful week for both St. Clair and Ponatoski, showcasing the impressive talent and skill of Ohio high school football players.
