GE Vernova to Offer Grid-Stabilizing Technology to German TSO

GE Vernova Inc. has secured a contract with 50Hertz Transmission GmbH in Germany to provide advanced grid-stabilizing technology to support the country’s transition to renewable energy sources. The 300 Mvar FACTSFLEX GFM solution, with Grid Forming Control, will enhance grid stability and resilience as Germany integrates more renewable energy sources into its electrical grid.

This contract will see GE Vernova delivering STATCOM technology, including transformers, circuit breakers, and protection and control equipment, to key substations in Germany. By automatically adapting to fluctuations in grid voltage, the STATCOM units will help maintain stability in the power system, especially as variable energy sources like wind and solar are added to the grid.

The deployment of these STATCOM units is essential for Germany’s Energiewende goals, which aim to source 80% of the country’s energy from renewables by 2030. The innovative technology provided by GE Vernova will play a crucial role in supporting Germany’s vision for a lower-carbon, reliable energy future.

This contract further demonstrates GE Vernova’s commitment to supporting Germany’s energy transition with high-quality, reliable technology. The company’s STATCOM solution and Grid Forming Control will help keep Germany’s grid stable as the country moves towards a renewable future. GE Vernova’s recent inauguration of its HVDC Competence Center in Berlin also highlights its dedication to expanding local expertise in high-voltage technology to address the needs of European grid operators.
