Additions to Women’s Basketball Staff Announced

The Ohio State women’s basketball program and head coach Kevin McGuff have added Katie Smith and Jacy Sheldon to their coaching staff. Smith, a former Buckeye and WNBA player, will serve as an assistant coach, while Sheldon, a recent Ohio State standout, will be the director of player development.

Sheldon’s role will involve enhancing student-athlete growth on and off the court by creating individualized player development plans and mentoring the team in leadership skills and personal growth. McGuff expressed excitement about the additions, highlighting their passion for the program and commitment to success.

Smith, a basketball Hall of Fame inductee, brings 11 years of coaching experience from the WNBA, including a WNBA Finals appearance with the Minnesota Lynx. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to her alma mater and contribute to the program’s legacy.

Sheldon, after a successful rookie season in the WNBA, is excited to give back to the program that shaped her as a player and person. As an Ohio State alum, she is grateful for the chance to continue her involvement with the team.

The Buckeyes are gearing up for their upcoming game against Charlotte, with tickets available for the 2024-25 season. Fans can expect an exciting season ahead with the team’s new coaching staff and talented roster. #GoBucks.
