Report: USA’s National Cricket League Banned by ICC for Violating Rules

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly refused to sanction the National Cricket League (NCL) of USA for not adhering to playing XI rules. The NCL had attracted attention by roping in big names like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar. However, the league faced a ban for fielding six to seven foreign players in violation of ICC guidelines, which require a minimum of seven local players in the playing XI. The league was also criticized for operational issues, including poor pitch quality and allegations of flouting US immigration laws by allowing players to enter on tourist visas to save costs. Players are required to have specific visas like P1 or O1 to play in the USA, with costs reaching up to USD 6,000 per player. Violating immigration laws could result in penalties ranging from legal action to financial repercussions and deportation for the players.
