Green Bay outscores Cleveland State in final quarter to secure victory against women’s basketball team

Cleveland State women’s basketball suffered a tough 59-50 loss to Green Bay on Wednesday night. Despite leading 40-39 entering the fourth quarter, the Vikings were outscored 20-10 by the Phoenix, who have now won 17 straight games. The poor shooting in the fourth quarter, with the Vikings going 3 of 11 and 0 of 6 on 3-pointers, contributed to their defeat. Green Bay’s victory improved their record to 24-5, while Cleveland State now sits at 21-7 overall and 12-5 in the Horizon League, in third place.

The game saw the Vikings start strong, holding a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, Green Bay dominated the second quarter, limiting Cleveland State to only 11 points as they entered halftime trailing 24-30. The Vikings fought back in the third quarter, outscoring Green Bay 16-9 to take a slim lead. Top scorers for Green Bay were Maddy Schreiber with 16 points, Bailey Butler with 15, and Natalie McNeal with 12. For Cleveland State, Jordana Reisma led with 19 points, followed by Destiny Leo with nine, and Sara Guerreiro and Mickayla Perdue each with eight.

The Vikings will look to bounce back in their next game on Saturday at home against Robert Morris at 2 p.m. Despite the loss, the team showed resilience and determination, and will be aiming to return to winning ways in their upcoming matches.
