Humane Society of the Ohio Valley Prepares Fundraising Events for Good Cause | News, Sports, Jobs

The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley is currently facing challenges with adoptions and foster families during the winter months. With full holding capacity and around 80 dogs and 60 cats in need of permanent homes, the shelter has reduced adoption fees to $14 in hopes of encouraging more families to adopt. Despite the harsh winter, staff and volunteers remain hopeful for an increase in adoption rates as spring approaches.

To combat the decrease in adoptions, the shelter is hosting fundraisers such as a Pickin’ Party and the 20th annual Fur Ball titled “Howling 20s.” These events aim to raise funds to support the staff and shelter, as well as promote adoptions. The shelter is also open to attending community events to raise awareness about the animals in need of homes.

Tickets for the Howling 20s fundraiser start at $45 per person or $380 for a table of eight. All proceeds from the events go toward supporting the shelter and caring for the animals. The staff and volunteers are eager and hopeful for the dogs and cats to find their forever homes.

The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley is open Monday-Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals interested in adopting can visit the shelter to meet the animals and potentially bring a new furry friend home.
