UCLA Dominates Representation on the 2025 USA Softball National Team

Five alumni from UCLA’s softball program have been selected for the USA Softball Women’s National Team to compete at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, from August 13-17. The selected Bruins are Maya Brady, Ally Carda, Megan Faraimo, Rachel Garcia, and Bubba Nickles, making UCLA the leading college program represented. Notably, Carda, Garcia, and Nickles are also Olympic silver medalists from the 2020 Tokyo Games.

This marks softball’s fourth appearance in the World Games, following its last appearance in 2022, which saw a record turnout for the gold medal match, where the USA defeated Japan 3-2. For the 2025 Games, eight teams will compete, including the top six ranked teams from the World Baseball Softball Confederation: USA, Japan, Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei, Netherlands, and Canada. Additionally, Australia received a wild card, and China is included as the host nation.

Team USA is the current champion, having won gold at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, with Carda contributing notably by recording the final out in the championship game while also striking out seven batters in relief.
