Lucas Bravo to Return for Season 5 of Emily in Paris, Despite Past Criticism
In recent interviews, Emily in Paris creator Darren Star dispelled rumors that Lucas Bravo, who portrays chef Gabriel, intended to leave the series. Speaking to Deadline, Star teased the upcoming season, stating, “Lucas Bravo is going to be back this season, so we have some interesting, surprising developments in terms of her love life.”
Bravo had publicly criticized his character’s storyline last year, expressing disappointment over the direction of Gabriel, which led to speculation about his exit from the show. He previously shared his feelings with France’s Le Figaro, stating, "I do not want to be part of a cog that does not tend to take the intelligence of viewers into consideration," and lamented the character’s lack of “panache.” Following these statements, Bravo confessed to IndieWire his frustration, saying he felt disconnected from Gabriel, who had become melancholic instead of maintaining his playful charm.
However, Bravo appears to have changed his tone, recently hinting at exciting developments for season 5. At a red carpet event in April, he declared it could be “the best” season yet, noting, “I think fans are going to lose it. It’s the craziest one so far.”
Aside from his role on the show, Bravo’s personal life is also in the spotlight, as he’s been linked to actress Shailene Woodley. The couple sparked dating rumors earlier this year during a romantic trip to Paris and has since shared glimpses of their relationship on social media.
